Anyone have insight on 33 maitland st and its walkability?

I'm eyeing 33 Maitland St for a short stay and have heard good things about the area. How easy is it to get around on foot? Are there good cafes or parks nearby? I want to soak up the local scene during my 3-6 months in Toronto!
