Can landlords restrict smoking and cannabis use in rentals?

I'm curious about the smoking policies for apartments in Toronto. Can landlords ban smoking, including vaping and cannabis, on balconies? Are there designated smoking areas within condo buildings? I'm also interested in roommate compatibility and shared costs. Any insights would be appreciated!
