Landlord's Quirky Gift Giving - Fruit at My Door

So my landlord has taken to leaving random fruit at my door every week! One week it’s apples, the next it's a bag of lemons. Sweet gesture, but I'm not sure if I should be returning the favor with cookies or if that's crossing a line? Anyone else experience something this odd?
