How do people even afford to live in Toronto now?

I'm genuinely confused about how people are managing to live in Toronto these days. What income is needed to survive here? It feels like only rich people can afford rent anymore. Who can make ends meet with these prices? How is anyone surviving in this city? I don't understand!
