Living at 530 The East Mall for easy downtown commuting

I'm looking at 530 The East Mall and wondering how convenient it is for trips downtown. How close is the subway or any bus routes, especially during rush hour? Also, are there bike lanes nearby for easy rides on nice days? Any tips on making a daily commute smoother from here?
