How much do movers cost in toronto for a 1-bedroom walk-up

I'm moving out of my tiny 1-bedroom walk-up in Scarborough and have no clue how much it will cost to hire movers. I've seen quotes all over the place, some saying $300 while others were around $800! Should I be giving notice before booking, or is that risky? This whole process is so confusing!
