240 Lake Promenade sounds intriguing, but what's the area like for walking?

I've been checking out 240 Lake Promenade and it looks interesting! I love to walk and want to know if there are good paths around and if there’s easy access to transit. Also, are there parks or shops nearby that make it feel homey?
