Hidden fees from toronto movers made my budget go haywire

I just moved out of a basement apartment in the Annex and thought I had everything sorted, but the movers dropped a $200 surprise fee on me for 'extra hours' at the last minute. How common is this? I'm now stressed about budgeting for my next move since I didn't expect it at all!
