Need advice on unexpected early lease termination due to family crisis

I'm an international student with a lease that doesn't end for another 5 months. Unfortunately, I've received news about a family emergency that requires me to return home immediately. I've spoken to my landlord, but they seem reluctant. Has anyone navigated this before? What are my options?
