How much do movers cost in toronto for 1 bedroom apartment

I’m moving from a small Mississauga apartment to downtown Toronto and getting quotes for movers. Some estimates are coming in around $1,200, but I’m hearing horror stories about surprise fuel charges on move day. Is it worth hiring a crew or should I just rent a truck and do it myself?
