Moving in winter toronto concerns about icy walkways and costs

I’m moving from my Junction Triangle apartment next month, and I can’t stop worrying about icy sidewalks and how that’ll delay things. I’ve talked to three different moving companies, and their quotes vary by almost $400! Is it worth paying more for better gear and safety during winter?
