How to avoid surprise charges with toronto movers on move day

I'm moving from a rental house in Riverdale at the end of the month and just realized my movers might have hidden fees. I've heard quotes can be off by a lot, like over $300. How do I vet moving companies and ensure I don’t end up with extra charges? Any tips?
