Checking out 1622 Lawrence Ave W for local shops and transit options

I've been eyeing 1622 Lawrence Ave W because I heard there's a decent mix of shops and cafes around. How's the access to transit there? I want to make sure I can get around easily without a car. Also, what’s the overall feel of the area like these days?
