Lost another apartment to competing applicants - need advice!

I'm so frustrated! I lost another one after applying for a 1-bedroom in Toronto. It feels like every time I find a place, someone else swoops in and takes it. I keep getting rejected, and I'm wondering how I can improve my chances and stand out in this super competitive market. Any tips?
