First time renter in Toronto - what should I know about tenant rights?

Just graduated and looking for my first apartment in Toronto. Coming from living with parents so I'm totally new to renting. What are the key things I should know about tenant rights in Ontario? I keep reading about things like rent control and last month's rent vs security deposits but it's confusing. Are there any red flags I should watch for when viewing places? Any resources you'd recommend for new renters?
