Is spending 60-70% of income on rent the new normal in Toronto?

I'm an empty nester, and with the kids moved out, I've downsized to a condo. But I'm shocked to find myself spending 50-70% of my income on rent! Is this normal in Toronto? It feels unsustainable, and I can't help but wonder how others are managing their finances amid rising rents. Any advice?
