Frustration with Rental Bids: How High Should We Go?

I'm really frustrated with this whole rental bidding war in Toronto. I've lost out on so many great places because other bidders just keep pushing the price higher. It's hard to know how much to offer without overextending myself. Anyone else feeling the pressure? What are your strategies?
