How much do movers cost toronto for a small basement apartment

I'm moving into a basement apartment in the Annex this August and trying to figure out how to keep costs low. Last time I hired movers, they scratched the floor and didn't take responsibility. Can anyone share their experiences with affordable movers in Toronto? What should I be prepared to pay?
