Lost out on another pet-friendly rental - bidding wars are brutal!

I just lost another place to a bidding war where someone offered $300 over asking! It's so stressful out here trying to find a pet-friendly rental in Toronto. How do people even afford these crazy offers? Feeling like I'm in a never-ending competition. Is there any hope for us pet owners?
