How do people afford living in Toronto these days?

I'm genuinely confused about how anyone can afford to live in Toronto anymore. With the way prices are skyrocketing, it feels like you need to be rich just to survive here. What kind of income do people actually need? I'm thinking of downsizing, but is that even doable for regular folks?
