Rent Increase Madness - Seriously Why?

Another rent increase, seriously?! My landlord just dropped a $400 rent hike on me out of nowhere. How is anyone supposed to afford this? It's like they don't even care! Meanwhile, the kitchen faucet is leaking, and they've ignored my maintenance requests for months. WHEN does it end?
