Thinking about 26 St Joseph St for easy access to the subway

I'm looking at 26 St Joseph St for my upcoming move and I need solid access to the subway. How quick is the trip to the university? Are there reliable streetcars or buses nearby? Also, are the bike lanes in the area decent for getting around downtown? Any tips would be appreciated!
