Rent in Toronto skyrocketed to $2600 - How can we afford this?

My rent renewal jumped from $1800 to $2600 this year! I can't afford to spend 60% of my income on rent, especially when the average 1BR is now around $2400. Is anyone else facing this? How is anyone managing these crazy rent increases in Toronto?
