Affordable movers toronto versus renting a truck which is better

I'm moving from a one-bedroom in Parkdale to a smaller unit in Liberty Village next month and weighing my options. Renting a truck is around $100, but quotes for a crew start at $400 and go up. Anyone tried both and can share which option saved you more time and effort, especially with a pet in tow?
