Landlord won't fix my broken fridge - what are my rights?

I'm frustrated! My fridge has been broken for weeks now, and the landlord just won't fix it. Whose responsibility is it to repair appliances in a rental? How fast must they respond to maintenance requests? What are my rights as a tenant when it comes to repairs?
