Moving companies toronto added fuel surcharge on my winter move

I'm moving from a high-rise condo in Liberty Village this January, and my movers just informed me about a surprise fuel surcharge. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm on a tight budget, and now I'm stressed about the additional costs on top of the already high moving fees.
