Concerned About Special Assessment Costs for Renters

I just heard about a special assessment for the condo I'm renting, and I'm really worried about how this will affect my finances. Do renters like me have to pay this extra fee? Also, will my rent increase because of this? I'm considering leaving if the costs keep going up.
