Worried About Condo Special Assessment Effects on Renters

I just heard about a special assessment that could hit our condo. Do renters like us have to pay for the increased condo fees? I'm anxious about a rent increase because of this assessment. What if it becomes too much to afford? I might even consider leaving due to the extra costs.
