Worried About Special Assessments Affecting Renters

I just heard about a special assessment hitting my condo, and I'm really worried about how it might impact my rent. Do renters like me end up paying for these increases? Are landlords allowed to raise rent because of condo fees going up? I'm even considering leaving if the costs get too high.
