Are utilities typically included in Toronto apartments?

I'm considering subletting an apartment in Toronto for the winter months, but I'm unsure if utilities are usually included in the rent. Does anyone have experience with this? I want to avoid any surprise costs on top of the rent, especially with heating expenses in winter!
