Moving to Toronto: Neighborhood Recommendations?

Hi all, I'm relocating to Toronto soon and looking for advice on where to rent. I've heard good things about Leslieville and High Park. What's it like there? Any other neighborhoods I should consider? Looking for a 2-bedroom under 2.5k, if possible. Thanks!
