Is a Pet Deposit Legal in Ontario?

I’m a bit confused about the whole pet deposit situation in Ontario. My landlord is asking for a pet deposit, but I heard that pet deposits might be illegal here? Can they really charge that, or is it considered a pet fee? What are the rules on pet rent? Help!
