Is Port Credit a good area for renters?

I'm considering moving to Port Credit and wondering if it's a good choice for renters. I need affordable housing and good transit access to campus. How's the roommate compatibility and shared living costs here? Would love to hear your experiences and if the higher rent is worth it!
