Just found 351 The West Mall, what's up with transit access around here?

Hey, I'm new to Toronto and checking out 351 The West Mall for an apartment. I love that it’s near public transit, but how easy is it to get to downtown? Also, curious about local shops or parks in the area. Is it a walkable neighborhood? Thanks!
