From $1800 to $2600: How is anyone affording rent in Toronto?!

My rent renewal just shot up from $1800 to $2600—how is this legal? With the average 1BR now at $2400, I feel like I'm living in a nightmare. Even lifelong residents are being forced out. Where can we go from here?
