How Do People Even Afford to Live in Toronto?

I genuinely don't understand how anyone manages to afford living in Toronto these days. What kind of income is actually needed to get approved for a rental? Are only rich people able to live here now? It feels impossible for regular folks to survive with rent prices soaring like they are.
