Lost out again! Bidding wars are driving me crazy!

I just got outbid on yet another rental! Someone offered $250 over asking, and I can't keep up. How are people even affording this? This competition is unreal, and my kids need a stable home. Is this the new normal in Toronto rentals? What can I do?
