Is Renters Insurance Worth It for Low-Income Tenants?

I'm on a tight budget in Toronto and considering renters insurance. With landlords often requiring it, I wonder if it's worth the money. What are the cheapest options available, and what do they actually cover? Any experiences with claims would be helpful too!
