Landlord entered my apartment without proper notice!

I just had a shocking experience when my landlord walked in on me without any notice! Isn’t there a 24 hour rule for this? I know my privacy rights are being violated here. Can someone clarify the rules on illegal entry and what constitutes an emergency? This is unacceptable!
