Need advice on rent increase notice in Kensington Market

Hey everyone, my landlord just sent a notice to increase my rent from $1800 to $2000 next month. Is this legal? I’ve heard there are rules about how much they can raise it annually. Also, is it a good time to start looking for a new place in Kensington Market? Thanks for any insights!
