Leslieville vs. Danforth: Where's better for kids?

I'm weighing Leslieville and Danforth for our family. Leslieville seems vibrant with parks and has some great schools nearby, but I've heard Danforth has a strong community feel with plenty of kid-friendly activities. What experiences do others have regarding safety and space in these neighborhoods?
