Can I negotiate lower rent in Toronto's soft market?

With units sitting on the market for weeks and the end of bidding wars in 2025, I’m curious if I can offer less than the asking price. It feels like a soft market right now. Are landlords open to negotiating rent down when apartments are empty for so long?
