What's up with Toronto's parking costs?!

I'm shocked by how insane parking fees are for apartments in Toronto! How much for a spot? I’ve seen monthly parking fees averaging ridiculous amounts. Is street parking a viable alternative? Is paying for parking even worth it? Hoping to get some opinions here!
