Why is Toronto Housing So Expensive Compared to Other Cities?

I can't believe how high Toronto housing prices are! Compared to places like NYC, where you can find better deals, it's shocking. Even Vancouver looks like a steal next to our market. Why are prices so inflated here? Makes no sense, and as a low-income renter, it's frustrating!
