High Hydro Bills in Downtown Toronto Apartment?

I recently moved to a downtown unit and noticed my hydro bill is significantly higher than what I expected. Has anyone experienced high electricity costs in this area? Also, are there common heating problems during winter here? Your insights would be appreciated!
