Scarborough vs North York vs Etobicoke - Best Value Neighborhoods for Young Professionals

Toronto is getting so expensive that I'm seriously considering moving out of the core. I work downtown but only 2-3 days per week now, so thinking about the outer areas for better value. **Scarborough**: Heard it's really affordable but long commute and maybe not as much to do? **North York**: Seems like a good middle ground? Close to subway lines, some nightlife around Yonge/Sheppard? **Etobicoke**: No idea about this one - is it just suburban? Any areas with apartments and some life? I'm 24, single, want to save money but not live somewhere completely dead. Budget around $1800-2200 for a decent 1BR. Also need parking. Anyone made the move from downtown to the outer areas? Do you regret it or was it worth the savings? Which neighborhoods have the best bang for your buck while still being livable for someone in their twenties?
