Confused about First and Last Month Rent Deposits in Ontario?

I'm really unsure about the rules regarding first and last month rent deposits in Ontario. Is a damage deposit even legal here? What can landlords ask for, and how much can they charge? I just want some clarity on monthly costs after taxes and any additional fees that might come up.
