Parking Costs in Toronto: Is It Worth It?!

I can't believe how insane Toronto parking costs are! I'm just starting my career and looking at monthly parking fees that are through the roof. $200+? How much for a spot? Is street parking a viable alternative or just a headache? Is it even worth paying for parking? Help!
