Confusion About Pet Deposits in Ontario

Is a pet deposit even legal in Ontario? I heard some landlords want a pet fee instead, but isn’t that the same? What can I actually be charged? I’m really not sure how this pet rent thing works versus deposits. Can anyone clarify what landlords can and can't do?
