Rent taking over my paycheck - is it just me?

Just graduated and landed a job paying $60k, but rent in Toronto feels like a black hole. How can I afford $2400 a month when that’s 40% of my income? The 30% rule seems totally impossible. Is anyone else feeling this rent burden?
